Summer Holidays
Glaring Sun vs. Crochet + Trip to Japan
The past few weeks have looked a little different around here, and I thought I'd let you in on why.
For starters, I finally got to make a long-time dream come true: I travelled to Japan! It's one of those places I'd built up in my mind for years, so I was a little worried reality couldn't possibly live up to my expectations. Somehow, it did. Every day seemed to bring something new to fall in love with, and I came home feeling incredibly inspired, and also somehow a little homesick for a country I'd only spent 14 days in. 😆
Coming home also meant settling back into summer life. Since I'm a teacher, the holidays are my chance to slow down a little before another school year begins. That slower rhythm has naturally carried over into FibreFables. If you've been battling the same heatwave I have, you'll understand why! Crochet and a glaring sun aren't exactly the best of friends. There's something very unglamorous about trying to work with plush yarn with warm, sweaty hands while it’s sticking to everything. 😅 Rather than forcing it, I've been letting myself take things a little easier.
However, I can feel my crojo coming back slowly, one project at a time. I’ve been spotting some exciting autumn/halloween projects on Instagram already and it’s making my hands itchy to try some of the patterns I’ve saved up in my own pattern collection over the last few months. I have a feeling this autumn is going to be a fun one 😄

Living the dream, surrounded by plushies.
Travel updates + Patreon
Patreon
One little update for those of you who follow me on Patreon: I'll be sharing a recap of my Japan trip over there soon, but after that, I'll be taking a step back from the platform for the forseeable future.
It’s been on the horizon for a long time, and I’ve experimented a bit, but I sadly don’t think the platform as it is right now is a match for me. Lately, Patreon has been sitting at the back of my mind as a thing I should be creating for, and that's not the kind of vibe I’m looking to have with creative work. I'd much rather share something because I'm genuinely excited about it than because I feel I have to fill a content calendar. Instagram will remain the place to go for FibreFables updates for now.
